I may have a slight problem. I think I’m addicted to making the Juggling Pin Cushion. Its a FREE download pattern on my website – www.sewingsue.com
I’ve already lost count of the number of these that I’ve made. It’s only May and I’m thinking of a Christmas version – so super cute just you wait and see. Anyway here is my latest.
I’ve added corner triangles. It’s easy they are just 1-3/4″ (4.5cm) squares marked with a diagonal line.
Sew the square to the corner of the top fabric, stitching on the line.
Then cut away the corner leaving 1/4″ (6mm) seam allowance. Use this stitch and flip method on each corner. Then construct as usual.
I find getting the crushed walnut shells in without scattering them all over the place to be the hardest thing about making these. I use an old out-of-shape baby spoon or a teaspoon to shovel them in. Its just the right size.
By the way, these are not just pin cushions you know, my young son likes to play with them – without pins. A friend of mine filled her’s with catnip and her cats love it. I put an applique hexagon on one so I would know where to find my needle…the fun goes on…
I hope you enjoy these pin cushions as much as I do.
